While conducting some research on the second European Space Agency's astronaut in space Wubbo Ockels, I was lucky enough to get a chance to sit down with the late astronaut's wife Joos Ockels. Having followed him through his journey from scholar to pioneering astronaut, she has a unique perspective on the early days of crewed spaceflight in Europe.
